Privacy policy


Lee Hecht Harrison processes the personal data of users via the website and the web applications if any. LHH does this in conformity with the Privacy Act of 8th December 1992. For more information about this law, please visit the website of the Belgian privacy commission, www.privacycommission.be.

As the law requires, but also since LHH attaches importance to your privacy and transparency in this connection, here is a description of the processing, in reply to the following questions:

What data will be processed?

A distinction can be made in the data processed between the personal data of all users and those of registered users.

Users - general

If you visit a part of the LHH website where you are not requested to login in order to read, browse through or download information from the same, the LHH system may record the date and time of your visit, the pages visited, and the information downloaded, if any. The system of LHH will not record information that could identify you personally.

Users - IP addresses

The LHH website servers collect IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our services, to administer our site and to collect broad demographic information. Demographic information is gathered collectively and cannot be traced to an individual user.

Users - Cookies

LHH use “cookies” in order to allow LHH’s website to make contact with your browser and thereby to provide you with better service and a more efficient operation of the website or web application.

“Cookies” are small pieces of information that your browser stores on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies are used to maintain information about sessions between your browser and the application. They are necessary to operate the website or web application. The LHH web server can later retrieve these cookies when you visit the site again.

LHH assigns a cookie to each Internet browser that visits our website. This does not enable LHH to collect personal data about you. LHH uses such cookies to:

  • to assign a unique identification number to your Internet browser;
  • to recognise pages on the website that you have (already) accessed;
  • to determine whether you have previously visited the LHH website or used the web application.

Registered users - Registration or forms

When sending - If you fill out a digital (registration) form via the LHH website, the information you enter in the form is only collected when you actually submit the form.

Optional - Registration at LHH is totally optional. A registration form requires users to provide an e-mail address.

Registered Users – Logging in

Personal data concerning logged-in users are the identification details, the email address, the login and the password and if necessary, the link to the data that LHH provides via the website or web applications (for example, that user X is a user designated by super-user Y of Company Z).

Registered users – information provided/uploaded

Use in connection with the services - LHH collects the information and documentation provided (including via uploading) in its database, which shall be available to the LHH business divisions. LHH shall, along with its client(s), use this information to determine whether a candidate is - or, where appropriate, will be - possibly qualified and suitable for one or more vacancies.

Registered Users - Helpdesk

When you contact LHH with a request for assistance in using features of the website or to notify an error, authorised personnel of even LHH can only access your detailed user registration to ascertain your problem and to identify solutions.

Registered users - feedback

Welcome - LHH welcomes your ideas and feedback concerning all aspects of the website. LHH will obviously save the feedback sent in by users.

Use - This feedback shall be used to manage and refine the service and, from time to time, the feedback may be shared with partners of LHH, either in aggregated form or without specific identifying characteristics (for example, e-mail address or name). LHH may also use the information and ideas that you provide to improve or promote the website, but will not publish your name in connection with any information that you provide to us without us making contact with you and obtaining your consent.

Candidates - CV etc.

 

If as a candidate, you provide LHH (via the website or otherwise) with information from or for your CV (curriculum vitae) or other information in connection with employment, or complete tests in LHH, LHH may use this information and if necessary, itself upload the same in underlying systems in order to make the same available to consultants in connection with their work or that of (potential) employers/clients.

 

For what purpose is the data processed?

The data is processed within the website or web applications for the following purposes, all of which are extensions of the activities of LHH:

  • technical support for the website,
  • compiling statistics to analyse the operation of the website and web applications, in which the link to you personally shall obviously be severed as soon as possible,
  • conducting satisfaction surveys and HR sector-related studies, in which the link to you personally shall obviously be severed as soon as possible,
  • providing the services of LHH, such as employment mediation, wherein the information is only provided to those persons (staff, consultants, clients or agents) who need the information as part of their duties in order to enable LHH to efficiently use your information more easily, and to provide you with the best services and/or opportunities,
  • documentation of the services provided, inspection of the services charged, invoicing and related (personnel) records,
  • compliance with legal requirements such as accounting, provision of information to a governmental authority if and to the extent that such authority has the power to demand such information, etc.
  • to notify you (by name) about changes in our websites and to inform you about our services, opportunities and special events which LHH believes would be of value to you, possibly even using automated calling systems (such as email, mobile, SMS, MMS, etc.) unless you object to the same (see “Exercising Rights”).
  • to send you information (by name) concerning LHH, LHH-related businesses (including the Adecco Group) and/or possibly third parties, and wherever applicable, even via automated calling systems (such as email, mobile, SMS, MMS, etc.) unless you object to the same (see “Exercising Rights”).

LHH will not sell, trade in, hire out, lend or give your personal information to others without your permission.

 

Who receives the data?

Within LHH, only persons who may require your information in connection with their work will be able to view the same.

Since LHH utilises the services of an (IT) service provider to manage the website and/or web applications, the staff of the said service provider also have (administrator) rights to view this information.

Furthermore, (some) data may also be seen by (users of) firms that utilise/d the services of LHH – for example, in the form of lists, the review of the selection and invoices - and the government - on the grounds of a legal provision.

If some users are specified to receive data from multiple candidates or companies, they shall have access to all the data to which this combination of accounts allows access.

 

Who is the “controller” of the website and web applications?

Lee Hecht Harrison is - unless otherwise specified – is chiefly responsible or is the lead controller for the processing, since it carries out the bulk of the data processing. To determine the identity of the person responsible for your personal data, you have to check the Adecco Group company with which you have or had an agreement.

 

What about security?

LHH cyber security - LHH tries to keep its servers safe and free from unauthorised access and use by implementing physical security in the buildings where the server is installed and by using standard technological measures from the industry standard to prevent unauthorised remote access to the server.

Warning - Unfortunately, no server on the Internet or any data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% safe. Despite the best efforts to keep the LHH servers, and transmissions to and from the servers safe, LHH is unable to guarantee absolute security, and there will always be a risk of unauthorised access to your information. Although LHH takes and shall take all reasonable measures to protect the information that LHH obtains from you, LHH will not be responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to such information.

Your input - Please note that this website and every potential web application is an Internet application, and that LHH cannot secure the (transmission via) the Internet (even of your login data), and that it is your responsibility to keep your login data (username and password) secret. Please warn LHH if you know or suspect that your profile has been modified by someone else.

You may choose to send personal information to a Lee Hecht Harrison representative for storage. This may include the sending of job applications directly via e-mail to Lee Hecht Harrison, or making your CV available to Lee Hecht Harrison consultants who are conducting searches, authorised third parties, recruiters who have access to Resume Reserve™ and candidates through the Resume Reserve™ network. These services are optional. You can always change the confidentiality preferences relating to your CV.

 

Will a part of the (actual) processing be outsourced?

Yes. LHH utilises third-party services to manage and process certain information on the website or in web applications. This may for example take the form of performing administrative tasks associated with the business activities of Lee Hecht Harrison. Such parties will only have access to personal information that they require in order to perform their tasks, and they may not use this information for other purposes. Currently, not all these external parties are located within the European Union. External parties established within the European Union are subject to a regulation that is equivalent (similar) (at least as regards personal data protection) to that applicable in Belgium. This does not apply to external parties located outside the European Union. There is an equivalent (similar) legal protection of personal data, but in most cases, this does not apply (for example, in countries like the USA or India). Contracts with such third parties stipulate that they should take reasonable steps to maintain data security and confidentiality.

 

Whom can you approach in case you have questions or wish to exercise your rights?

You can, under the Privacy Act,

  • view the processed data relating to you - in principle
  • correct (or commission the correction of) the processed information concerning you, which is not (any longer) accurate and up-to-date
  • to block or remove the data that were wrongly processed in relation to you.
  • LHH can also not guarantee that your personal information shall be removed from all third parties.
